EQUALITY WITHOUT EXCEPTIONS

Help us strengthen anti-discrimination laws in NSW.

Discrimination against LGBTIQA+ people has no place in our laws or our community. However, in NSW, exceptions for religious bodies, private education authorities, and small workplaces allow discrimination to continue.

The NSW Anti‑Discrimination Act protects trans men and women but it doesn't protect non-binary people. It protects homosexuality but it doesn't protect people who are bisexual, or people who are asexual. It doesn't protect people with variations of sex characteristics or sex workers.

Recently, NSW Labor Minister Penny Sharpe said in Parliament during the conversion practices ban debate that "today New South Wales has said to its LGBTQ community that they are fine the way they are and that it will look after and protect them."

It's time for this government to walk the talk and do just that - without any exceptions.

This petition calls on the NSW government to urgently amend the Anti-Discrimination Act to provide these protections while the lengthy law reform commission process takes place. The Act must provide real protection for everyone in our community so that LGBTQIA+ people can be and feel safe at work, in education, and in the community.
